Yesterday I made a HUGE discovery. In DIY ebikes (for me at least) it is better to adapt factory parts to my own use, than to try to fabricate things. I have neither the tools, materials, nor the vision to do so.

My diy bike had a grinding sound so I checked the chain and found it too tight. I had replaced the chain recently and it was one link too short. I tried to adjust the motor but there just wasn't enough room.

So I thought I would just build a mount of my own with enough adjustments to make it work. I worked on it all day and never did get it solid enough to work. So I put the factory mount back on and opened my chain box. Low and behold I had a chain the right size already made up. It had come from one of my other experiments. Duh what an iget.

But I did learn that I can't fabricate, but I can adapt things to a different use. So it wasn't a total waste. "Sure it was." I hear a, not so little, voice say. "Dolt."
