Default 33Saw Broken drive shaft...

Damn! I lifted the engine off the tire to tune the carb and didn't think it was a big deal not to take the roller off. PLUNK! while adjusting the High adjustment the roller flew right off the shaft. When i looked at the shaft it ripped the threaded end right off the shaft.

I have a piece of 1"x 3/4 DOM steel bung with a ID of .400 which i drilled out halfway to 13/32. Its slides onto the remaining drive shaft which im planning on welding it onto halfway into the bung. There is very minimal play once sleeved on so i hope i get as straigh as possible so the roller doesn't wobble. On the other side of the bung im going to weld a piece of threaded rod, possibly 10M because it fits super tight in the bung. Once i tap in the 10M rod it will be straight out of the shaft so i can slide the roller onto and tighten down with a nut. The original threaded drive shaft was 5/16 OD, the new rod will be a bit more then 3/8 which will make it considerably stronger.

Question: I found a Grade 8 Left Hand threaded bolt but the bolt stor wants $15 just for 1"x 3/8 bolt, not sure how much the nut was i didn't bother to ask. A Right hand threaded bolt is probably a $1. If i use a regular threaded rod with a torque Nut and lock washer will it unscrew itself when WOT? Or should i just spend the $20 and get the Left Hand threaded bolt? I know its only $20, but hey times are hard.
