Re: Engine stop will not restart yea you could have jumped time. If you look at the mag rotor its keyed with a wood ruff key.
I wonder if you have a good spark and fuel in the carb? can you get fuel to flow out of the carb by using the tickler button on the carb? If you can't and your spark plug is dry I'd see first if you are getting fuel into the engine. Then look at the mag rotor. Could be your tanks fuel strainer is clogged. Your fuel line can look full and not be flowing fuel to the carb. If its been running then just shuts off and won't restart kind of like it ran out of fuel which mine will sometimes do I take the gas tank cap off and pressure up the tank with lung pressure to get the fuel flowing again sounds unsafe and looks funny but it will open up a fuel stoppage. I try to do this where no one can see me doing this like pedal to an alley or back to the house don't need the neighbors thinking I'm so in love with the bike that I'm putting a lip lock on it.
Sounds nasty and it is but I hate to have to pedal when I don't have to.
So far I have not had the tank get a vacuum lock as my gas caps leak when I put too much fuel in the tank. I can take off the gas cap and until I give the tank a little pressure it won't start so I know there is a little booger stopping off the fuel line some where. I have this problem if I let the bike set for a few days and see the fuel line looking dry along with the inline fuel filter being dry looking. Its a caveman way of getting it going but it works just don't inhale when giving the bike's tank a little kiss.
Do not french it either that would be really nasty.
